Elasund - The First City
Age: 10+ Players: 3-4 Playing time: 45-90 min.
Publisher: Mayfair Games
- Deutscher Spielepreis 2006 (6th place)
Gather 2-4 players and build Elasund, the first city on the island of Catan. This may sound like a peaceful endeavor - but it isn't. In a city that seems to have far too little space, soon a fierce struggle ensues: everyone wants to snatch the best building sites, build the buildings that generate the most income, and secure as many victory points as possible.
Elasund is growing rapidly and Catanians are streaming into the city, eager to make a fortune! You are appointed to help the city develop. You heed the call to drive the city's growth and prosperity.
Hire workers, acquire building materials. What will your next build be? The competition is eager to excel and claim all of the credit! Limited resources early on will limit you to a few small buildings. Your influential connections will provide you with all the necessary building permits. In Elasund, nothing works without building permits!
Once buildings are constructed, they can generate either gold or influence for you. Soon you can start going after bigger projects! Soon enough you may become involved in grander projects, such as building the church or the city walls.
But beware of your competitors! They may try to leverage their way into your neighborhood with their own permits!
If you don’t watch them closely enough, they might attempt a hostile takeover of your buildings!

A modern classic, Barbarossa is a great game for family and friends! Enter the fantastic world of this casual riddle-solving game. Share laughs with your friends or family as you create and master riddles!
First, each player forms objects out of modeling clay. Since the item is a riddle, your clay figure will only show rough contours. So there's no need to be an artist when you mold the rough shape of a dinosaur or a bug!
- “Is it a living thing?”
- “Is it bigger than me?”
... these questions might bring you closer to solving the other players' riddles.
When you solve a riddle, you are rewarded with points. You can also earn points when your riddle gets solved, but only if it's not too easy and not too hard! You earn bonus points if your riddle is solved in the middle of the guessing process, but you lose points if it is answered early (too easy) or late (too hard)! Earning points is the key to victory, so put on your thinking cap and mold your best riddles.

Outwit your fellow snobs to become the most “Hoity Toity” of them all.
Anno 1503 - Expansion - Aristokraten und Piraten (not available in English)
Age: 10+ Players: 2-4 Playing time: 75-115 min.
Publisher: KOSMOS
Place the expansion board (1) adjacent to the game board of the base game and fill it with new island tiles. There are cards with the luxury goods silk, marble, and precious stones (2) as well as pirate nests (3).
You can only win the game if you take possession of islands with luxury goods (4). But that is not easy, as pirates (5) armed to the teeth are blocking the way.
Every time you move onto a pirate space, a pirate card (6) is revealed. If the pirate defeats you in battle, the ship has to go back to the nearest port for repairs.
So it's time to upgrade your ships with cannons so that they can let the pirates have it. You also upgrade your home islands: each of you places an aristocrat island (7) adjacent to their home island. Settling aristocrats on this island costs luxury goods. The more aristocrats you settle, the higher your advantages in the game.
The luxury goods can also be used to build a castle on the aristocrat island in 9 stages. For each completed construction stage, you receive an action card (8). For example, you can use the “privateer” to steal a luxury good from another player or build cannons faster with the “inventor”.
If only one of three possible victory points (3 trade agreements, 3 merchants, or 4 public buildings) is accepted on the old game board, two out of three possible victory points must be earned on the new game board. The conquest of two pirate nests, the completion of the castle, or the construction of 3 aristocrat buildings (9) count as one victory point.
Overall, the Anno 1503 expansion offers new strategies, more depth, and an enhanced gaming experience.

Publisher: Mayfair Games
Each player has a set of buildings to place. Each of you must build a set of buildings. To build a building, you need a whole cartload of resources: 1 wood, 1 brick, and 1 grain.
The roll of the die determines how far the carts will move. When you stop next to a resource you need, you can load the resource into your cart.
When your cart is full, you get to build a new building! You must place it in the right spot in the village. Then you return the resources to the board so they can be collected again!
Once you have built all of your buildings, you begin collecting resources again to build the City Hall. The player who builds the City Hall wins the game!
Of course, children are also encouraged to play with the wonderful wooden buildings to create their own games and adventures on Catan!

Klaus Teubers Spielwiese (not available in English at this time)
Digital Browser Games
Developer / Publisher: CATAN GmbH
Klaus Teubers Spielwiese offered variants of the board games as digital adaptations for the web browser, later changed into PlayCatan, and in 2014 continued as Klaus Teuber's Web Games until it was discontinued in 2017.
With the launch of Klaus Teubers Spielwiese (translates: "playground"), the Barbarossa Online Puzzle was revised, and Entdecker Light (later Oceania) started at the same time.
Starship CATAN Light (2003), Multi-CATAN (2005), The Settlers of CATAN - The Dice Game (2007), and the CATAN Puzzle (2009) were added later.
Multi-CATAN
This was a round-based online game on an almost infinitely large playing field, where six players always see each other at the same time. Without having to wait for the other player to finish their turn, neighboring players compete for the best building sites. A game of Multi-CATAN extended over 72 dice rolls, which were spread over 7 game days.
This “parallel” game concept differed fundamentally from all CATAN variants and scenarios known at the time and formed the conceptual basis for the later CATAN - Big Game.

Age: 7+ Players: 3-6 Playing time: 20-30 min.
Publisher: KOSMOS
Teddy’s friends want to surprise their little darling with lots of nice presents in the morning.
The game board (1) shows a running field on which Teddy's friends scurry back and forth. At the start, everyone grabs three gift cards (2) and tries to get them to the birthday teddy’s room (3) as quickly as possible. If you choose the blue die to move forward, you will slowly but surely move forward.
It is not at all safe to use the fast red die. Because if you do this, you always have to reckon with the possibility that you must exchange your gift cards for the cards of an opponent who shouts "swap." Gee whiz! You'd have to be stupid to use the red die.
— Yes and no. —
If you grabbed very unattractive gifts with negative numbers at the start, you can aim at provoking a swap with the red die and then hold better cards in your hand. Or do you have good cards and everyone thinks they're bad? In any case, this is a great opportunity to bluff your opponents. By the way, the ownership of gift cards also changes when two or more teddies meet on a field and one of them shouts “jostle.” Then the players blindly draw a gift card from each other.
Here and there a banana peel is lying around, and when one of the birthday teddy's friends steps on it, gifts are sent flying and get lost. Each time one of the friends arrives in the birthday teddy’s room with great presents, the birthday teddy (4) advances one space in the direction of its room. When it finally gets there, the game ends and the player who brought the birthday teddy the most attractive gifts wins this turbulent game.

Well, you still have a dollar left for poor Janice Bone.
Now you just hope that the boozers don't get whacked before they've brought you enough nuggets in return for your generosity. You need the nuggets to become the most respected citizens of Tuzza-City and for that vexing payday.

Die Siedler von CATAN - Historische Szenarien II (not available in English)
Age: 10+ Players: 3-4 Playing time: 60-90 min.
Publisher: KOSMOS
In the historical scenarios you harvest, trade, and build just as in the CATAN base game. However, additional simple rules allow historical events to be played out.
You need the CATAN base game to play these scenarios.
Troy
According to legend, Troy was besieged by the Greeks for 10 years. We do not know whether the reason for this was the abduction of beautiful Helen or the strategic location of Troy on the Dardanelles.
In this historical scenario, the players take on the roles of the neighboring peoples of Troy and the Greek city of Mycenae. At the beginning of the game, each player receives a secret decision card with which they either side with Troy or Mycenae. The game board shows Greece and Asia Minor.
At the beginning of the game, you place your first settlements and roads as usual. In your build phase, you may also donate resources. If your secret card shows Mycenae, you place lumber or grain face down beside the game board. If the card shows Troy, you secretly donate ore or wool.
Once 10 of these donated cards are beside the game board, you reveal 7 of them. The city that received more resources gains an advantage, which at the same time earns the supporters of this city additional victory points.
Those who donate not only help their city but also receive additional commerce points. Commerce points allow you to build trade ships, which brings you great advantages in the game.
If you have cleverly expanded your sphere of influence on land by building cities and settlements and gained supremacy at sea with your ships, you will ultimately have the edge on your opponents.
The Great Wall
During its long existence, the Chinese Empire was repeatedly a worthwhile target for peoples from the northern steppe. To protect themselves, over the course of centuries the Chinese built a great wall on the northern border of their empire.
In this historical scenario, you take on the roles of Chinese princes. Each of you is responsible for a section of the Great Wall and must fortify it sufficiently during the course of the game. If you neglect your task, the horsemen of the steppe will overrun the wall. As a result, the hexes behind the wall are occupied by the horsemen of the steppe and no longer produce, and you as the responsible player lose one victory point.
The game board shows the northern part of ancient China and the approximate course of the Great Wall. At the beginning of the game, each of you establishes two settlements. In addition, each of you places a border settlement on their wall section. Then you settle as usual.
Needless to say that as Chinese princes, you want to increase your influence by building roads, settlements, and cities. You can take on additional building projects to build wall sections in 5 stages. The higher the wall gets, the more the building costs increase. When certain numbers are rolled, the horsemen of the steppe advance toward the wall.
If a section of the wall is not high enough, the steppe riders break through and occupy valuable hexes behind the wall. You can use knights to drive them off. Knights are also ideal for redirecting the horsemen of the steppe in front of the wall to the wall sections of your opponents.
The first player to reach 10 victory points wins.

Age: 6+ Players: 2-4 Playing time: 20-30 min.

Hello, we are little Robbies from Professor Rastlos's workshop. Freshly screwed together, we just have to get smart. We need chips for that!
With the help of a catapult, you throw a chip onto the game board. You should aim for a space near a Robby of your color.
Now each of you may move a Robby to the space the chip landed on. When several Robbies have gathered around the chip, a trial of strength takes place.
There is a die hidden in every Robby. When you lift your Robby, it appears. Yes, and the Robby whose die shows the most pips is stronger, and you put a chip into its back.
But watch out! Every time you draw a Robby, the die inside rotates. If you are the first player to equip each of your two Robbies with 4 chips, you win the game.
