The Settlers of Catan World Qualifier for the US at Gen Con is now
completed. This was a very exciting tournament this year and Catan GmbH
is proud to announce the final four:

Matt McLaughlin, IA - US Representative
-
Michelle Sharp, MI - 2nd place
-
Jeff Klemens, IN - tied for third
-
Mike Rohr, KS - tied for third
Congrats to Matt! We wish him luck at Essen.

The Settlers of Catan® will be featured at the Melbourne Museum in
Australia! The Melbourne Museum is the largest museum complex in the
Southern Hemisphere and The Settlers of Catan® will be featured in an
exhibit there as part of the museum's "Community Collections" this
September, 2006. This is the first time The Settlers of Catan® will
ever be in an Australian Museum. The exhibit will be a fantastic
opportunity to promote the boardgaming hobby to many locals and tourist
visitors in Australia and around the world. The Settlers of Catan® as
well as other Catan titles will be on display along with many other
"famous" board games.

If you do not want to stroll along the Catanian meadows embodying Leif,
Britta or Ansgar anymore, you may want to try the Candamir Character
Editor to create your own individual character!
On a plain and empty card you can add your image, your name and up
to 3 of about 40 different individual skills. Afterwards you simply
print out the card and use it in the game. Besides that you can even
share your character card with your friends via the internet!

The NYT article “So funny I forgot to laugh” in yesterday’s NYT
(fashion and style) shows the creators of the popular TV shows “Will
and Grace” and “Weeds” playing a Settlers of Catan board game.
It is unclear at this time, whether they were just sharing a few
laughs during the game or whether a “Catan” TV show is in the works …

Last week, Mayfair Games held the US National "The Settlers of Catan"
championship. The winner and US champion is: Scott Scribner from
Columbus, Ohio!
The Catan tournament was just one out of many fun events that generated buzz and excitement for Mayfair Games, Inc.
