 As of yesterday, all latest news items from Catan.com can be accessed and subscribed to as an RSS news feed. All current web browsers (Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer 7, Opera) as well as e-mail programs (Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Outlook 2007) support the subscription of news feeds.

We are excited to announce that our partner Mayfair Games, Inc. will be releasing an English language version of the Catan Dice Game to for the English-speaking market. Complete with six colorful resource dice, the dice game version of The Settlers of Catan
also involves building settlements, roads, cities, and knights. But,
you won't be placing any pieces made of wood or plastic on the map.
Instead, each player will record these actions on the provided paper
sheets which depict a map of the island. To produce resources players
roll the resource dice, which have six resources, one on each side of
the die, including gold as well! The Catan Dice Game
is a great way to experience Catan quickly or on-the-go. The game is
small and portable so it can be taken with you practically anywhere. It
is also a great game to pass the time in between games of the Catan
board and card games. The Catan Dice Game can also be played all by yourself, in case you want to experience Catan even when no opponent is present!

The results for the Catan food contest are in! Thanks again to everyone who participated this year, we had some fantastic submissions! And now the moment you have all been waiting for: the winner of The Second Annual Catan Food Contest is Azure Akamay of Anacortes, WA. Azure is the proud winner of the new 4th edition The Settlers of Catan, Catan Seafarers, and Catan Cities and Knights games! Azure made a stunning completely edible Catan base game cards and all. Taking a look at the picture to the right really says it all.
The second place winner is Cristian Cabrera of Cordoba, Argentina, who created a Catan board from cake, candy covered chocolate pieces, and other goodies. He wins a copy of the new 4th edition The Settlers of Catan.
The third place winner is Melissa Whitfield, who re-created the 3rd edition Catan base game cover in the form of a gingerbread house. Melissa wins Elasund: The First City, from the Catan Adventures line of games!
We had a mouth watering time looking at the submissions this year. Thanks again to all of those who submitted such wonderful Catan food creations!

With the successful launch of the new edition of The Settlers of Catan, we're been receiving a lot of feedback on the new edition. The overwhelming majority of it has been positive, but there has been some confusion about the differences between 3rd and 4th edition sets, and specifically the ability to combine them together.

There is a new way to experience Catan and games by Klaus Teuber online!
We are proud to announce that the good folks at Catan have just launched an exciting new website for the English language market. This new website is called PlayCatan, and its homepage can be found at playcatan.com. Users can enjoy, for free, a variety of Catan and Catan-themed browser games, like The Settlers of Catan - The Dice Game, Barbarossa, Oceania, Starship Catan, and Multicatan. Multicatan is an exciting new way to play Catan online with multiple players and with people from all over the globe.
The Catan team has also announced that they have plans to release the Catan Online World for the English market in early 2008 as well. The COW is a downloadable client game that connects to other players via the web.

The Catan re-launch has a new release schdule! Pre-order your copy now!
Due to production difficulties the release dates for the Catan re-launch have been slightly altered. The on sale street date for The Settlers of Catan™ and The Settlers of Catan 5&6 Player Extension™ will still be November 8th. Catan Seafarers™, Catan Cities & Knights™, and the 5&6 player extensions for both of these products will be delayed by one week. The on sale street date for these four products will be November 15th.
